RAMP (Responsible Alcohol Management Program) is a 3 hour Pennsylvania
Liquor Control Board (LCB) program designed for both management and servers of
alcohol. The program focuses on Pennsylvania LCB law with regard to serving to
minors and to those individuals who appear visibly intoxicated. The program
educates the student on how to identify minors who attempt to purchase or
consume alcohol and trains those servers to identify altered, borrowed or
counterfeit identifications. The program also discusses the various factors that
can effect intoxication. In addition, RAMP educates servers on topics such as:
human physiology and alcohol, visible vs. legal intoxication, the various types
of liabilities that servers are exposed to: administrative, criminal and civil
liability, the proper procedures to utilize in carding individuals, and the only
legally acceptable cards in the state of PA. Once trained in RAMP, and
successfully passing an exam, servers receive a two year RAMP certification.
Most licensees are seeking to have their establishments as being RAMP certified
and compliant, and seek individuals who possess such training. Combined, bar &
beverage management, mixology and RAMP, the student is a better trained,
